Webkinz Tiger Snake (And Other Stuffed Animals) Activities For Grandparents and Their Grandchildren!

Category: , ,

I raised three daughters quite happily. It was very handy having all three wear the same clothes to pass on to each other. While they enjoyed digging in the mud puddles, they were not nearly as rambunctious as some of the sons of my friends, so I was quite happy.

Years later, it looked like things would continue in a sweetly feminine way. The first grandchild was also a little girl. Then - drumroll please - a GRAND-BOY! And I couldn't have been more thrilled. NOT because we had wanted a BOY - we didn't care as long as he was healthy. In fact, I was just as thrilled when another granddaughter was born shortly thereafter. Still and all, it was a fun new adventure for this granny nanny - one I still enjoy today, seven years and several grandkids (including more boys) later.

I've learned that while there are many toys and games all the grandkids love, there are some things that are definitely more appealing to a boy than a girl and vice versa. One of those seems to be my youngest grandson's Webkinz Tiger Snake. While my granddaughters love Webkinz just as much as the boys, not a single one has asked for a snake of any kind!

My grandson, on the other hand, absolutely loves it. And I love it too! Why? Because it's cute, cuddly, doesn't bite me, and doesn't make me scream. I'm personally hoping he sticks with the Webkinz snake in lieu of a REAL snake. Now that would get to me! I'm not so sure I'm going to have successful hopes in this area though. You should see their insect collection! The funny part - the girls have one too!

Hmmmm, I guess when all is said and done, perhaps it's more their personality that makes the difference, rather than whether they are boy or girl? In any case, all the grandkids - boys and girls - and this here doting Granny Nanny have had a delightful time with all our varied Webkinz stuffed animals, as we play pretend with them and as we enjoy various fun activities for grandparents and their grandchildren on Webkinz World. Did you know you can even play virtual games WITH a long distance grandchild using your computer? It's quite fun and can even be educational!

So, whether you have grand-boys or grand-girls or both, you can all have fun with Webkinz stuffed and virtual animals and the educational fun of Webkinz World.

And if you haven't learned how to play with your grandchildren at Webkinz, do come visit us at http://www.SandwichINK.com . An Affordable Zoo - Animal Alley Stuffed Animals

Category: , , ,

These days, stuffed animals can get really expensive. This is a real problem when you have a child that toys and is always asking for more. However, there are some that are pretty affordable, if you know where to look. One good option for affordable items is Animal Alley stuffed animals from Toys "R" Us.

If your child wants a whole zoo, Animal Alley stuffed animals are definitely one of the most affordable choices. They have some items based on real animals and made to look fairly realistic, as well as some that are purely imaginary. You can get your child a black lab or basset hound just like the family dog, or you can get them a blue mommy and baby gorilla, it all depends on what your child will like best.

There aren't many places you can find stuffed toy items as affordable as Animal Alley stuffed animals. You can get a bear for around $6, and many of the dogs are around $8. Except for the jumbo-sized items, which are between $50 and $100, almost all of these items are less than $20. Since these toys are so affordable, they make great small gifts for kids.

If your child wants a zoo, you can get a lot of their favorite zoo animals. You can get them an elephant, a tiger, a panda bear, a lion, a giraffe, a cheetah, a snow leopard, a penguin, a monkey, and a brown bear.

The selection changes frequently, so if you can't find the animal you are interested during one visit to Toys "R" Us (or similar store), you can check back the next time you visit the store. You can also check online auction websites since people usually have a variety of these items for sale on these websites, and many of them may no longer be available at the usual retail stores.

Most of the Animal Alley line are meant for children 3 years old and up, but they do also have some animals and toys made for babies, though there isn't as large a selection. Most of the items for babies contain rattles or noisemakers and are multicolored either with bright colors or pastel colors to appeal to the interests of babies.

So whether you are buying for your own little one, the grandkids, for your organization's nursery or schoolroom, you'll find Animal Alley to be the perfect choice -- an affordable zoo your kids will surely love!

Pretty Babies - Young Animals in the Wild

Category: , ,

Springtime is a time of renewal as the last remnants of winter are lost and along with the new leaves, the flowers and warm air, the local wildlife is starting life anew. Yes, it is baby season again. However, it is important to remember that wild animals are just that, wild. If you decide to take in a wild animal as a pet, there is little in the way of pet health care that can help you. It is best to leave them alone and wild. Yet, every year, wild animal young are found orphaned and are instantly adopted by the good-hearted animal lover.

If you do find orphaned or injured animals in the wild, it is best to call animal control, as they know what is best for the animal. They are trained in wild animal and stray pet health, so they can better assist the animal. If you are not comfortable calling animal control, in rural areas, there are local veterinarians that have began treating wild animals and then releasing them to wildlife sanctuaries for rehabilitation. Many babies are brought in by citizens of our community who want to help and are concerned about the well being of our wildlife. In rural areas, at least once day orphaned young or injured wildlife is brought to the vet's office. They all have great hearts and should be commended. Unfortunately, about 90 percent of the babies that vets see are orphaned not because mom abandoned them, but because good Samaritans are too quick to lend a helping hand.

Just like human children, wild animals grow up in stages. When they are newborns they cling tightly to their mother's side whether it be in a nest, in a den, or wandering around. As they grow older they seek a little distance from their parents. The freedoms and distances become greater and greater until they are ready to support themselves. It is during this process that we humans can disrupt the natural learning process of wildlife. We see babies alone and think of them as orphans when actually their mom is close by. Baby birds are kicked out of the nest to learn to feed and fly. Mom is always close by to help with the feeding. We walk up to see a baby bird and immediately think it is orphaned. We scoop it up and now we have greatly lowered its chances at a normal life.

Deer along with birds are the most common animals brought into veterinarian clinic, particularly in the United States. Deer are foragers, they move about daily grazing so the babies walk along with their mothers. When deer are frightened, the mother runs away and the baby just sits down trying to blend into the environment. When the danger passes Mom returns and they go about their business. Once again, when we get involved all we see is a baby deer lying helplessly on the ground with no mother in site, so they are brought the local animal hospital for treatment. These babies are now orphaned by our own hands. This spring try to let nature take its course. If you see young wildlife, observe it from a distance over a twenty-four-hour period before making the decision to bring it into the hospital. Unfortunately, humans are poor surrogates to their real mothers. Our pet health care knowledge does not extend to wild animals nor should it. Only trained professionals should be handling wild animals. If you see an orphaned young in the wild, leave it be. Chances are good that mom is around the corner.
